How Bloom'n Events Co delivered a vibrant family-focused activation celebrating international food offerings, driving awareness to Taste of Italy and creating memorable community moments

The Brief

Hawaiian Group engaged Bloom'n Events Co. to conceptualise, design, build, and deliver a fully immersive community activation to support the launch of Taste of Italy, while simultaneously driving visibility and spend across Forrestfield's existing food retailers.

The brief extended beyond hosting an event. The goal was to transform an outdoor retail zone into a destination environment—one that felt transportive, experiential, and commercially aligned.

Our Role

Bloom'n Events Co. delivered the project end-to-end, taking responsibility for:

  • Event concept and creative direction
  • Design of all interactive activities
  • Custom styling and environmental build
  • Entertainment sourcing and coordination
  • Construction, bump-in, styling, and pack-down
  • Onsite management and delivery

Everything guests saw, touched, heard, and experienced was designed and produced in-house.

The Concept

We created A World of Flavours—an activation inspired by the energy of a European café square, where food, culture, and community intersect.

The environment was intentionally designed to feel informal yet immersive, encouraging families to slow down, stay longer, and engage with the food offering across the centre—anchored by the launch of Taste of Italy.

Designing the Experience

The space was transformed into an alfresco village using layered visual and sensory cues:

  • Long communal tables styled as Italian café dining settings
  • Red-and-white linen, European umbrellas, bunting, and props
  • A French-style food cart built as a central voucher redemption point
  • Styling elements including bicycles, baskets, bread, fruit, florals, and café furniture

The result was a cohesive environment that felt intentional, warm, and transportive—not temporary or generic.

Interactive Activity Design

We designed and delivered three bespoke children's activity stations, each linking directly back to the food precinct.

Children sat at café-style tables, wearing mini chef hats and aprons, personalising their identity as "Junior Chefs" before creating their chosen food piece.

Completed creations were exchanged at the food cart for vouchers from participating retailers—turning play into purchase intent.

Entertainment & Atmosphere

To reinforce the international theme, we curated and coordinated a full entertainment program:

  • Live international DJ (DJ Neenz) delivering a continuous multicultural soundscape
  • Cultural performances including drumming, dance, and folk acts (Not Taken Up)
  • Roving entertainers in European-inspired attire interacting with guests

Entertainment was programmed to enhance the environment—never overpower it—ensuring flow, energy, and dwell time remained high throughout the day.

The Outcome

A World of Flavours successfully delivered:

  • A strong and visually compelling launch for Taste of Italy
  • Increased engagement across existing food retailers
  • High participation in kids' activities throughout the event
  • Extended dwell time within the food precinct
  • Positive feedback from centre management, retailers, and families

The activation repositioned the precinct as a place to gather, not just transact.
