School Holiday Programme Drives Traffic and Family Engagement Across Five Shopping Centres in 5 Days.

How Bloom'n Events Co delivered a successful food-based activity programme for Hawaiian across their suburban neighbourhood assets

The Background

Food is one of Hawaiian Group's strongest strategic assets, with each centre offering a diverse mix of casual dining and takeaway options.

In May 2025, Hawaiian launched Neighbourhood Nibbles—a portfolio-wide media, loyalty, and content campaign celebrating this breadth of food catering through the Neighbourhood Perks rewards platform.

The July school holidays presented the opportunity to bring the campaign to life physically, bookending the digital activity with an on-ground, family-focused experience under a seasonal Winter Bites theme.

Our Role

Bloom'n Events Co. was engaged to adapt and scale the successful A World of Flavours concept into a five-centre, five-day school holiday roadshow, delivering a consistent yet flexible activation across the suburban portfolio.

Our scope covered concept, design, production, logistics, and delivery, including:

  • Creative concept adaptation and seasonal theming
  • Design of all children's activities
  • Custom props, styling, and environmental build
  • Furniture planning and spatial layouts
  • Signage and visual presentation
  • Staffing, coordination, daily bump-in and pack-down
  • Multi-site logistics and travel management

The Concept

Neighbourhood Nibbles – Winter Bites was designed as a warm, welcoming European-style café workshop, reinterpreting the World of Flavours experience for winter and school holiday audiences.

Each centre hosted a one-day activation during the first week of the July holidays, transforming high-traffic areas into intimate, craft-led food spaces that encouraged families to stop, participate, and stay longer.

Designing the Environment

Each activation space was fully styled and built to feel cohesive across all centres:

  • Good-quality wooden trestle tables and stools
  • Seating for up to 12 children at a time, with managed session flow
  • Italian-inspired table runners and placemats at every seat
  • A styled food cart as the visual anchor and registration point
  • European props including bicycle, bread baskets, produce, and café furniture
  • Market umbrellas with weighted bases, integrated into the activity zone
  • Branded signage displayed on wooden easels
  • Optional visual backdrop for themed photo moments

The result was a consistent roadshow identity that could flex to suit each centre's footprint without losing impact.

Activity Design

Based on proven engagement at Forrestfield, we delivered two highly popular, hands-on craft activities.

Activities were designed to feel playful yet structured, with children stepping into the role of "mini chefs" before creating their food-inspired craft.

Each child received a personalised chef hat to take home, extending the experience beyond the event itself, while reusable mini chef aprons were supplied onsite.

Staffing & Delivery

Each day was delivered by two Bloom'n Events Co. staff, dressed in full chef attire, managing:

  • Activity facilitation
  • Crowd flow and session timing
  • Parent engagement
  • Pack-down, reset, and relocation between centres

The program required daily set-up and pack-down, plus coordination across five consecutive days—managed seamlessly to ensure consistency, safety, and energy at every location.

Visual Evidence

The Outcome

Neighbourhood Nibbles – Winter Bites achieved strong results across the portfolio:

  • Up to 100 children per centre planned at high-performing locations
  • High repeat participation throughout each day (10am–2pm)
  • Strong alignment with Neighbourhood Perks offers and retailer vouchers
  • Increased dwell time within food precincts
  • Positive feedback from centre management, retailers, and families

The program successfully translated a digital food campaign into a tangible, memorable family experience.

Key Insight

When a concept is designed to scale, it becomes a platform—not a one-off.

Neighbourhood Nibbles – Winter Bites demonstrates Bloom'n Events Co.'s ability to evolve a successful activation into a multi-site roadshow, delivering consistent brand storytelling, operational excellence, and meaningful retail outcomes across an entire portfolio.
